What is audio post-production?

Audio post-production is everything that happens to sound after principal photography or recording is complete.

Once the cameras stop rolling, the real work of building a soundtrack begins. Dialogue is cleaned up and edited, unwanted noise is removed, and any lines that could not be captured cleanly on location are re-recorded in a controlled studio environment through a process called ADR (Automated Dialogue Replacement).

Then atmosphere, ambience and sound effects are layered in to bring the world of the film or programme to life, before a final mix balances every element across dialogue, music and effects into a finished soundtrack that works on any playback system.

  • Not at all. We are fully set up for remote collaboration via Source Connect and Zoom, so you can direct and review from wherever you are. Many of our clients never travel to the studio.

  • A 30-minute documentary episode typically moves through the full post process in three to five days. We will give you a clear schedule before we begin, and we keep to it.
